I am looking to trade in my SUV for a car. My dad does not want me to do this so he is refusing to switch the car insurance from my Xterra to the new car. So I decided that I would just remove myself from the policy and get my own insurance. Would it be possible to do this if he refuses to call?
Thanks everyone. I guess I forgot to mention that I work FT and my parents are moving later this year anyway.

As it’s in their name you can’t make any changes to the policy, only they can.
You have 2 choices. First is to check that you can get cover on your own for your chosen vehicle and that you can afford it. If you can go for it and let your parents know that you have sorted out insurance for your car and that they should remove you from their insurance, unless they fancy paying for something they are not getting.
Second choice is to leave it awhile and wait until your dad comes around. Not only does he feel that he has the right to dictate to you about your chosen vehicle, but he will most probably feel that he has the right to dictate to you about your living arrangements etc and can make your life a living hell.
You decide. Good luck.
