Do you cancel an auto insurance quote?

by admin on January 31, 2010 · 5 comments

I had an economics project and there was a section where I had to "purchase" auto insurance. Sure enough, I went to Geico and got a free quote, but the problem is that Geico is annoying to lock in the policy and actually have me as their customer. What can I do to tell them that I only wanted a policy for a project and I’m not really their customer?

A quote is just that, a quote. If they call back, just thank them for the quote, and tell them you decided you can’t afford to drive, so won’t be insuring a car.

I would not tell them that it was merely for a project. I would
probably just contact them, and tell them that their quote
was too high, and that you had already purchased a better
value policy. I would add not to contact you again, and if
you needed them you would contact them. Do this in a
reply email to their email.

Tell them "I only wanted a policy for a project and I’m not really your customer".

If it’s just a quote, why do you need to tell them anything. Donh’t talk to them anymore or pay them anything.
