Does someone know where I can find a list of average car insurance rates by vehicle?

We have a 16 yr old daughter whos looking for her first car. We wanted to find a list (if one exists) of average insurance rates to see which cars cost the least to insure. This way she’ll know which cars she can afford. Thank You.

Welcome to the club. We have tried a few and changed to one that saved us over $1500.00 per year. We tried all the others and got so many quotas it made our head spin. So for the last 5 years we have been with AARP Hartford Ins. We have two boys on the policy, one 21 and the other is 17 with three cars. The type of car has very little to do with insurance rates. It is mostly figured on the people driving. A good example of this is to indicate that if you rent a vehicle and you contact your insurance company they will tell you not to buy the extra insurance because you "YOU" are insured and therefore what ever your policy is will cover you in the rental. Our policy for 3 cars and 4 drivers; Mon, dad, boy 21 and boy 17 with AARP in the State of Texas is just under $1500.00 a year. Progressive wanted over $1500.00 a year to one boy. With AARP you’ll have to become a member and the fee there is $12.00 — well spent money..

I’ve bookmarked this site to go back to…

All the best to you.

Sports cars or high performance cars are the most expensive to buy liability for. Every company rates particular cars differently so as far as I know there is no "average price". You would need to get quotes from individual companies. Make sure she buys an adequate amount of insurance. I’ll define adequate as enough to insure that you don’t lose your retirement or your house if she has a serious accident. Since she is a minor if she has an accident you will end up paying for everything her insurance doesn’t cover. If she can’t afford adequate insurance don’t let her drive.

The cost of comprehensive and collision insurance depends on the price of the car. She can choose to buy comprehensive with a high deductible or not to buy it at all if the car isn’t financed.

Don’t buy a Honda Civic, Don’t do it!

Oh wait, she’s a girl. Nevermind, you’ll pay much less than half of what I would have had to pay 5 years ago, despite the fact I haven’t failed a drivers test or gotten a ticker, or ever even came close to causing an accident.

But to stop my ranting…

When I was looking around for car insurance I found a site called Kanetix, or something like that.

Just google search is (or its probably Kanetix.com, not sure).

They have some good information on car insurance rates, and which cares generally cost more (honda civic pretty much always tops the list… before you start getting into BMW’s Mercedes or Ferrari’s that is, Civics are at the top of the list for high insurance prices affordable young person cars).

Good luck!

Have you tried ringing an insurance company and asking them what cars come into the cheapest bracket for insurance

There is no such list because there are way too many variables. But… stick with and older small engine sedan

Lorene O, There are tons of sites where you can get a free insurance quote. http://www.goodonlinedeals.com/Auto-Insurance.html It only takes roughly 10 minutes to do.

Roughly, The smaller the engine, the slower the car, the cheaper the insurance.

You can also try inputting your data at:

then back up, enter another car and see new price

autoinsurance.bebto.com – check this one. As I remember they have lowest car insurance rates for teens and young drivers.
