Otherwise if there is any type of accident (our fault or theirs) our insurance will not pay. Adding a teenager is very costly here also. Since I expected he'd only drive my new expensive car about 3 days each year. The Homecoming Dance. The Turn about Dance in Feb. The Prom in May. So they assumed he was driving the convertable 100% of the time and the price for that car's insurance went up. Since he had good grades that was factored in so it didn't cost me an arm and a leg, just a few fingers. So if your teen is a member of the Honor Club or National Honor Socieithy, talk about that with your agent to get the good student discount. And what that stupid Gecko says on TV is correct. I have my car and my wife has hers. If I get into an accident driving her car, the insurance will cover it. If my daughter, who is not listed on my insurance, is driving and gets into an accident, it is not covered. They will cover any *insured* family member driving your car.
