Insurance for an automotive repair shop?

by admin on February 21, 2010 · 1 comment

I am a mechanic and I am thinking about starting my own repair shop. I’m tired of working for somebody else. I have good credit and some liquid capital saved. I was wondering what the cost of insurance would be for this venture. What types do I need? I know I will need it for accidents to customer’s vehicles as well as some kind of liability for injury. Does anyone out there own their own shop? Anyone work in insurance? I don’t want to start searching for quotes yet because I don’t want to deal with the phone calls from salespeople yet.

It’s just easier to get a quote from a business insurer and take it from there.
Here you get a number of quotes from local insurers:

When you get your own place you better get used to deal with salespeople as they’ll be a permanent feature of your office, both in person and on the phone.
In a way they’ll help even if at the beginning if won’t be obvious how.
