There is NO grace period. The last time that you can drive the car before you obtain insurance is the test drive that occurs while the dealership still owns it. I do not understand how you had time to buy the car and to ask this question, but not time to get quotes. If this is a replacement for an old vehicle or you already own another vehicle with insurance, you can add the new vehicle to your existing policy more quickly than you can get a new policy.
