Vehicle insurance – Moved from GA to MA?

by admin on March 4, 2010 · 1 comment

I recently moved from Georgia to Massachussets. I had been driving in GA for the past two years and had an accident in 2007. Now I bought another used car (07- Toyota Corolla). I have been checking with insurance agents for the quotes and I’m being told that I’ll have to pay more than 2400$/year (or even more) . I was paying only 1200$/year in Georgia.(though I got the license here for the first time) . Now eventhough I have two years of history(with an accident), it should not be this high, I believe. Could be maximum 400$ more.

If I get a Mass license and ask for the quotes, will it go down? ( coz my accident history will not be immdly transfered to MA license).

Your accident history will still be immediately available to any new insurance company. Massachussetts is a much more densely populated state than Georgia, with different insurance laws. It’s not a shock that the rates would be higher. Keep shopping and consult an independent agent.
