When financing a vehicle – insurance question?

by admin on February 15, 2010 · 2 comments

I am considering financing a new car and know I have to carry full coverage insurance but I was wondering: if the vehicle is financed solely in my name, does the insurance policy have to be in my name as well? I live in colorado if it makes a difference.

You can compare how the insurance quotes would change, for example here – autoinsurance.bebto.com

Some companies don’t care who owns the vehicle they just want the person who is the primary driver to be the one who has the policy. Most companies require the person who insures the vehicle to have a financial interest in the vehicle. You are going to want the policy in your name to make sure if there is ever a claim that you will be the one being paid for the accident.
