Which insurance company should be paying for the accident?

A tree fell on my grandpas house during a storm. My dad tried to help him remove the tree and fell off the house through the roof and broke his elbow. (He has been out of work and has a surgery.) They had part of the tree attached to a chain that was attached to a truck. The insurance company is saying that because the truck was involved the claim goes though the automobile insurance; but he fell off the house. The home and car insurance is under the same company, should the case really be though the automobile and not the home?

As a claims rep, I would route this to the homeowners’ insurance, because he was not in, getting into, getting onto, getting out of, or getting off of, the truck. If the chain attached to the truck pulled him off the roof, then I would route it to the truck insurance. Talk to the adjuster and ASK WHY they think it should be the auto insurance that is primary?
