the 2nd hand car bought through a car loan was found defective 2 days after the deal was closed. the engine just shut down along a busy highway.

The car lender is NOT responsible for the condition of a car. The person/place you bought the car from MAY be responsible if they warranted it in writing, unless it was sold "as is". In the end the buyer is always responsible
its yours….cars are sold as is. it is your responsibilty to have it checked by a mechanic.
lemon laws only exist if you buy a new car, and the same part fails three times after being fixed at the dealer
